Keeping the smiles in difficult times

We are very close to completing two years in a pandemic and this has caused great trauma in our society and especially among our young people. Schools closed in March of 2020 and those who have returned in person have had to do so under strict sanitary measures that require everyone to wear masks while in the school building. For over a year we have not been able to see the faces of our students, nor have the students been able to see the faces of their teachers.

All this environment has generated situations and problems that we never imagined. The school “feeling” has changed in one way or another, we are not the same and this has also influenced our sense of humor. It seems that we laugh less, it is difficult to laugh with others when we are not able to see their mouths.

Sonrisas Ocultas is a collection of 12 short stories based on the reality of the pandemic in schools written with the intention of helping our students to recover those lost smiles. The 12 stories in Sonrisas Ocultas will make your Spanish students smile again and why not, take the world under COVID 19 with humor.  Reading Sonrisas Ocultas it’s been almost therapeutic for my own students.

Due to the vocabulary and grammatical structures used, Sonrisas Ocultas is appropriate for levels 3, 4 and 5.
