USING BILINGUAL MUSIC IN THE SPANISH CLASSROOM

There´s no doubt that the United States of America is a bilingual country. Among many other languages, the US speaks mainly English and Spanish. We live in a bilingual society hence the importance of helping all young people acquire Spanish while in school.

I have always used music in my Spanish classes but it wasn´t until December of 2019 that I “discovered” the talented Nathalia Palis. I was looking at my Twitter feed when I found Nathalia singing a Villancico, both in English and Spanish. I was very excited when I realized that her Villancico was a bilingual Vallenato. This was amazing!!! What a great resource for Spanish classes I thought, then I went to her website www.nathaliamusic.com and found a real treasure!

In this webinar Nathalia and I talk about the reasons why bilingual music has an important place in our classroom. We hope you enjoy it.

Nathalia has gracefully shared some classroom resources that you can find here as well.
